Dick- "King Hiram" is a name from the Masonic Legend, so it was likely that King Hiram Freeman's father was a Mason, and he may have been as well. You might want to contact the archives at the Livingston Library at the Grand Lodge of New York and see if they have any rosters of lodges in your area which might list one of these gentlemen. Their Phone number is (212) 633-2639 and you can e-mail them at Livmalib@PIPELINE.COM. Depending on their holdings from any given lodge they may even have photos. This is a virtually unknown source of historical information which people would use more often, if they knew it was available.
