Well, Fowler and Green had a large store on the corner of State St and Dayan Street for years. The building burned down about 6 years ago. I know Fowlers were still running it during the late 1940s and early 1950s, I used to buy my 22 shells from them. George Fowler was about 4 years ahead of me in high school and he still lives in Lowville. The following Fowlers still live in Lowville and have phone listings: Fowler, C 6720 Independance Dr Lowville, NY 13367 315-376-3473 _Maps & Directions_ (http://urlgen.rmservers.com/cgi-bin/amap.cgi?lastname=Fowler&firstname=C&npatelephone=31 5-376-3473&streetaddress=6720+Independance+Dr&city=Lowville&state=NY&zip=13367&country=US) _C Fowler - Phone Number, Address & Public Records Available_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.intelius.com/searching.php?ReportType=1&refer=2101&qf=C& qn=Fowler&qs=NY&adword=WP.Results) _Did you go to school with C Fowler?_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.classmates.com?s=5110) _Find a Nearby Business_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://anywho.yellowpages.com/search?from=AnyWho&search_terms=restaurants&geo_location_terms=13367) Fowler, Kim Lowville, NY 13367 315-377-3120 _Maps & Directions_ (http://urlgen.rmservers.com/cgi-bin/amap.cgi?lastname=Fowler&firstname=Kim&npatelephone=315-377-3120&streetaddress=+&city=Lowville&sta te=NY&zip=13367&country=US) _Kim Fowler - Phone Number, Address & Public Records Available_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.intelius.com/searching.php?ReportType=1&refer=2101&qf= Kim&qn=Fowler&qs=NY&adword=WP.Results) _Did you go to school with Kim Fowler?_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.classmates.com?s=5110) _Find a Nearby Business_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://anywho.yellowpages.com/search?from=AnyWho&search_terms=restaurants&geo_location_terms=13367) Fowler, Terrance H Number Four Rd Lowville, NY 13367 315-376-2757 _Maps & Directions_ (http://urlgen.rmservers.com/cgi-bin/amap.cgi?lastname=Fowler&firstname=Terrance+H&npatelephone=315-376-2757&streetaddress=+Number+Four +Rd&city=Lowville&state=NY&zip=13367&country=US) _Terrance H Fowler - Phone Number, Address & Public Records Available_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.intelius.com/searching.php?ReportType=1&refer=2 101&qf=Terrance+H&qn=Fowler&qs=NY&adword=WP.Results) _Did you go to school with Terrance H Fowler?_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://www.classmates.com?s=5110) _Find a Nearby Business_ (http://anywho.com/qry/gt?http://anywho.yellowpages.com/search?from=AnyWho&search_terms=restaurants&geo_location_terms=13367) Fowler, Todd & Jessica 5466 Campbell St Lowville, NY 13367 315-376-8246 I couldn't find a listing for George, but I just talked to him in September in the Lowville Fire Hall. Yes I do know that, I am sorry I just wasn't thinking. The son of my Frederick and Anna Fowler was in Lewis Co. at the age of 30. His name was John Cornell Fowler, he would of been 21 years old and married but I am not sure of the correct name for the wife, ( Nettie ?). They had a son William Douglas Fowler b; 1931?. I have not been able to find anything out on that family either. Anne **************Start the year off right. You do know that Utica, New York is not in Lewis County? Dick **************Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape. http://body.aol.com/fitness/winter-exercise?NCID=aolcmp00300000002489
Hello Ron, Could you see if you have any information on a Frederick and Anna Fowler who lived in Utica, NY in 1918, but then they vanish. They sent their children to live with different relatives at young ages (7 & 9). I don't know if the parents died then but it is worth a try. Thanks Anne NC **************Start the year off right. My grandmother told her daughters that an ancestor, 5 generations back, married a full blooded Indian. We don't know if the five generation measure was from herself, or the children she was telling. One branch of the family remembers being told that the Indian was Blackfoot, and the other remembers being told the Indian was St. Regis Mohawk. If the five generations were from her children, the Indian was Theresa Allen, born 1821 in NY. If the five generations were from herself, the Indian was Kesiah (Unknown maiden name) Allen, born 1770 in NY (mother of Theresa) Only record of Kesiah was the 1850 census - Jefferson County, NY. Theresa lived in Herkimer, Lewis and Jefferson Counties in NY. I am trying to learn more about Kesiah, her spouse, siblings and parents. Kathy Williams
Anyone looking for family in the following cemeteries. Campville Cem., Petries Corners Cem., Seven Day Settlement Cem.,. I recently took photos in these cemeteries and would be willing to do a look up for anyone interested. Ron I am interested! "Asahel (Asa) Alford" lived in the Campville settlement in 1838 when he died. I have no record where he was buried, but sounds like it could be in Campville Cemetery(, or even Seven Day Settlement Cem. ?). If you find no stone, is there a record somewhere of burials there? His wife died before him, and she, "Anne Austin Alford" may be buried there also. Thanks so much. Viva
Lewis County families that connect to the Palatine German Immigration group of 1710 will likely be interested in a very recent announcement of the "Palatine DNA Project." You can read an announcement of this on the Upstate New York Genealogy website at: www.unyg.com and clicking on the "UNYG Blog."
Hi. Does anyone have any information about the Flint family who lived in Lowville and surrounding towns around the 1860's. My main family from there are Phillip Flint and his wife, Mary Ann Turple Flint. They had 7 children, one Daniel Flint, born 1860, who is my great great grandfather. May I also say, I have enjoyed reading all of the tidbits of history about the area. Thank you, Annie
It looks like Ira and Seth Adams, both descended from Henry Adams. cousins, yes? Hough's book, "History of Lewis County", reports on page 322 and 324 on Dr. Seth Adams. Also, "His son, Charles D. Adams, was long a lawyer in Lowville,....". This info. might help Judy Ragan in her research. Viva
Thank you Pat R for the information about Ira Adams. I have the vital dates but the general information was all new to me and exactly what I was hoping to get. Thank you very much and I'll look forward to anything else you can uncover when you get home. Judy Ragan **************Start the year off right. Hi Judy I did find that Dr Ira Adams was in Lowville and settled there in 1812. Also that he D of organic defection of the Heart at age 66 on March 8, 1858 and that he is buried in Lowville Rural Cemetery. He had 9 children. That he served in the War of 1812 as a Surgeon at Port Erie . He married Arzelin Root in 1821 and he settled on the Bailey farm at Stowe Square in 1812. He came to Lowville from Cavendish Windsor County VT at about 22 years of age. He was the son of Timothy Adams of Covendish VT.. Dr Ira Adams had attended Medical School in Albany New York and he continued to practice in Lowville until his death. I'm sure there is other information about him, but will have to check at the Court House when I get back there. I am not sure if you have all of this but in the event that you don't I am sending it to you. Warm Regards Pat R

Hi Ken Great to hear from you. In Reply to your question this is a separate Adams family and does not descend from either of the 2 people you mention. John and Seth were direct descendant of Henry Adams who came from England to Braintree Mass in about 1633. Warm Regards Pat R

Hi Pat R, Yes, Ira was the son of Timothy and Lydia (Robbins) Adams. Ira's wife was Arzelia Root. Timothy & Lydia's children were Lydia, Thomas, Timothy, William, Ira, Olive, John, Patty, Sylvia. Ira Adams and his extensive family are all buried in Lowville Rural Cemetery in Lowville, NY. I have all the family vital records and was just looking for some information about him as a physician in Lowville. Surely there must be some history there. Thanks for looking for me.
