All the original records belonging to the SDB Church were burned. I spent many years gathering the material from numerous locations and people. I also researched public records, reading material at archives, checking land records, early vitals in the area and many hours hunting for my information. Why should I turn it over at this time?? These records were not the property of the church. The ancestor who kept the records and vital information about these church members did it for personal reasons as most of the people she gathered the information on were relatives. The Church ledger books, membership records (that belonged to the church) no longer existed after the fire but these records did and still do if one hunts for them. All church information available came from other members who were living in the settlement at that time it was active. This work has taken many years of my time, travel, money. letter writing and phone calls contacting many people and sources for this information. The work will be published when I complete it to my satisfaction. . 1. Re: [NYLEWIS] 7th Day Settlement REPLY Alvord, Apple & Plantz
    2. Hi Vieva I still have that Alvord information and its still have it in my unsolved folder for Lewis County. I lost a great deal of time on Genealogy during my husband's illness and passing this past year. But I made it over there a few times this summer even with the soaring price of Gas. We all know that a great deal of these burials could of been on the family homestead and disappeared over the years. Sometimes only 1 burial was made at the homestead and then the family migrated. Many stones have disappeared over the years or were plowed up after property was sold. It has taken me on some brickwalls 15 to 20 years to solve them. I have spent over 25 years trying to find the exact burial site of my first DAR Patriot Henrich Appel (Henry Apple). The closest I have come is that a Probate record at the Lewis County Court House states he died in Lewis County NY, but does not name the location of his burial. It only names his 2 surviving children Henry Apple Jr. (Watson) and Elizabeth "Betsey" Plantz (Denmark) as living in Lewis County NY. But like it has always been stated Patience is a virtue in Genealogy research. So don't give up. Pat R "Good Genealogy Is Not Fast" and "Fast Genealogy Is Not Good"

A partial list was made up a number of years ago (in the 1960's) with about 50% or less of the burials. I have spent many years working up a complete list of members and the members that were buried there. I probably have the most complete list. When completed I plan to publish that list in a book. Many of the original grave stones were missing long before any burials were compiled and at that time the cemetery had been considered as being abandonment for a number of years and many stones were already missing (in mass). The cemetery had also been vandalized over the years at various times without any attention beings brought to attention. The first burial in this Cemetery was my 2nd G Grandfather in 1843 and his young daughter. That information was confirmed in family bible records (never published) and church records from a relative who kept the church records and vitals. The first pastor of this church was my 2nd Uncle William Quible. Among the original constituent members were many of my Ancestors. Since all original church records were burned at the time the church was destroyed by arson it has taken a great deal of time and research to confirm all burials and membership records. At one time it was estimated that over 400 members were a part of the SDB Watson Church. Many are not aware of how large this settlement in Watson was. I normally visit this Cemetery at least once a year (if not more) and although it appeared to be mowed early in the spring I do not find any other indication of care and attention. A few grave sites have flowers placed on them, however on visiting it near Memorial Day I did not find any flags placed there in respect of the Veterans in this Cemetery. Also many times it appears a mower has been used and the stones are damaged or overturned from this. Not exactly what I call prime care. However I doubt if the Town of Watson will repair or take care of the damage as it should be handled. Stones need to be repaired in a proper manner. If 50 stones were overturned and damaged I would say that would be a majority of the stones left in this cemetery (one can see that many are missing and where they original were). This could be the end of the cemetery if something is not done to prevent the Town of Watson from abolishing the cemetery. Jay and his wife Lou Jones are buried there, which is not online. Do you happen to know whether any of the Barnum family is buried there? One of Jay's daughters married a Robert O. Barnum. To the best of your knowledge are any of Jay's descendants or his brothers' descendants residents of the area? If so, I would like to contact them. Thanks. GMF Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting. -George Orwell, writer (1903-1950) -- "ron brownell" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: GMF I believe you mean the Wildwood Cem. in Lyons Falls.
