    1. [NYLEWIS] William Kehoe - Train wreck
    2. Jeff Kehoe
    3. Looking for info/help on William Kehoe. Born Ireland 1830-31, emigrated to Canada from port of New Ross, Ireland. Emigrated from Canada to Cape Vincent, NY on June 30, 1855. Lived in Lewis County near other Kehoe family members in New Boston. Married Rosie Henry and had one daughter, Susan E. Kehoe. William was killed between 1860 and August 8, 1864 in a logging train wreck somewhere on Tug Hill plateau. Family story indicates he was the train engineer and ordered others to jump before wreck and he was killed in wreck. Looking for any info on what became of daughter Susan and especially any sources for info on train wreck. Thanks in advance for help, Jeff Kehoe --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? 1. [NYLEWIS] POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We have just published another picture postcard of the LEWIS County Home, Lowville, NY. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on NEW YORK on the table of states, and finally on LEWIS on the table of counties.. If you have been to the website recently you may have to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser to see the new information. There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newsletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. [NYLEWIS] Need help with Dean and Bailey
    2. I hope someone can help me. My great great grandparents were Alvin dean and his wife Lucinda Bailey. Lucinda was born in the town of Lyden cira 1822. Her parents are Clothier and Rebecca Bailey. They live somewhere around Thayer Hill. The last place I found her was the 1880 Census. Looking for when she passed away and were she is buried. All I know about Alvin is he died sometime in the 1860s. He was married once before Lucinda to a woman named Almaria. He had possibly 4 children with his first wife. The oldest, Leonard married Martha Clemens in Oseola. They had one son Richard. Leonard died in 1912, but I don't know were or were he is buried. Leonard may have remarried in 1868. I found references to a Leonard Dean in Lyden in 1870 and 1880. He was married in 1868 to Amie or Anna. They had at least 3 children. Not sure if this is the same Leonard. The age is right and his first wife died in 1866, so it could be. According to notes left to me by my grandmother, Alvin also had a son named Richard. He possibly went south. A daughter named Hanna and another son named James that may have gone out west. Alvin was sapped to have come from Lyden. I haven't found anything yet. I don't know were he is buried, or when he died. His youngest son Lewis (my great grandfather) was born June 3rd 1861. The 1870 Census shows Lucinda and her two children living with her parents. They also had a daughter named Sara born in 1853. She married into the Buck family and lived in the Forestport. She died in 1935 and is buried in Forestport . Thank You Jim L

    2. Raymond
    3. Hi List, I need help. I have talked with the Town Historians in Lyons Falls but I have not been able to find any additional information regarding this family. Per a birth certificate, Warren BAKER, 43 years old and reportedly born in Vermont, and Ellen WOOD, 36 years old and reportedly born in New York, had a baby girl on 1 Mar 1919. The family was living in Constableville and the baby was born in West Turin. The attending physician was D. Duane Parrish of Lyons Falls. At the time of this birth, there were seven other children born to this couple and all were living at home. Can anyone tell me how I can find out more about this family? Thank you, Raymond Tompkins
