That could please look and see if there is a WILLIAMS family including a JENNIE ( born around 1857 - New York ) and a son called GEORGE who would have been born around 1880 - New York. Or help me find a possible marriage for Jennie (nee BUDGE) - unknown? Williams around 1879/ 1880 Many thanks and best wishes Heather

Hello again Listers, I am hoping someone might be able to help or make a connection with this family. I am trying to find more information on a WILLIAMS family. I don't have much information, but here is what I do have. LAWTON WILLIAMS was born in Port Leyden - when / around 1907?, parents?. I am told that he went to college at COLGATE, near Syracuse New York and graduated in 1930. Know siblings MEREDITH and JOHN and there also is a connection with a PERRY WILLIAMS. I have been told that Lawton was the grandson of my JENNIE (married surname unknown) nee BUDGE. Lawton has only just recently died 2003 - age 96 and has lived in Turin for the pass twenty years. If anyone can make a connection with this family, then do please get in touch! Many thanks and best wishes Heather (England)
Does anyone in Lewis County have access to the 1835 Census? Would you do a 'lookup' for Asahel Alford (jr.), a widower, with several sons and daughters, in the Watson Town area. Many thanks for any help!! johnson
I use the free Legacy 4.0 and love it. I have used FTM in the past. It's ok but I prefer Legacy and you can't beat the price. Unlike FTM ,Legacy has easy access to help with problems and it isn't being sold to someone else every few years. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Al: Hopefully you got some responses. So many people prefer Family Tree Maker that it has become the dominant software for building family trees. I am not a techie type and find FTM offers far more than what I need. They throw in the kitchen sink. I've suggested they have about three versions of the program. My message goes unheard. Now to your primary question about Legacy. While at a genealogy conference last spring, the person in charge gave me a free copy. Many people like the program so you won't go wrong with it. The "deluxe" version offers more choices but then it starts to approach FTM in goodies. If you want personalized service when you run into a problem with Legacy, the creator of the program is likely to respond along with others. They give you a help site to ask for assistance. Actually, I have not used my program as yet but am getting tempted with each passing day to shift to it. Maybe others out there have tried it and could offer suggestions. Legacy is fitted for GED so if you start with it and you don't like it, you can transfer the data to most other established software packages. One last point, many people start with one program to later learn they want additional or better features so don't be afraid to experiment with Legacy. Good luck with it. Ken > Hi, Is anyone using Legacy 4.0 genealogy software? If so do you like it? > I have downloaded the "standard" version and it looks to have about > everything one would want. Hi Heather, Henry Budge and children are still in Greig for the 1860 census. Series M653 Roll 777 page 373. He is in the index as Henry Bridge. I didn't find him in 1870. NY did not keep vital records early enough for you to obtain a death certificate for Priscilla but surely there were would be a coroner's inquest for her death. Good luck --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.537 / Virus Database: 332 - Release Date: 11/6/2003

Jan This may help. PINCKNEY1 -- was formed from Harrisburgh and "Harrison," (now Rodman, Jefferson co.) February 12, 1808. It lies upon the highlands in the N. W. corner of the co., and has an average elevation of 1300 ft. above tide. It forms the watershed between Deer River and Sandy Creek, the head branches of which constitute the principal streams. A series of swamps extend along the E. border. In the town are several mineral springs, one of which has acquired considerable local notoriety for its medicinal qualities. The soil is a light, slaty loam upon the hills, and a deep black laom in the valleys. Pinckney, New Boston, Barnes Corners, and Cronks Corners are p. offices. Settlement was commenced in 1804, under Abel French, agent of Mr. Henderson.2 The first church (Bap.) was formed in 1810. There are now 4 churches in town.3 Ron >From: NYLEWIS-D-request@rootsweb.com >Reply-To: NYLEWIS-L@rootsweb.com >To: NYLEWIS-D@rootsweb.com >Subject: NYLEWIS-D Digest V03 #55 >Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 08:30:09 -0600 > ><< message2.txt >> ><< message4.txt >> _________________________________________________________________ Enjoy MSN 8 patented spam control and more with MSN 8 Dial-up Internet Service. Jan The town of Pinckney was located near Adams, I believe. but in Lewis Co., RODMAN1 - was formed from Adams, March 24, 1804, under the name of "Harrison." Its name was changed April 6, 1808. A part of Pinckney (Lewis co.) was taken off in 1808. It lies upon the borders of Lewis, in the S. part of the co. The surface is hilly, and broken by the deep ravines of Sandy Creek and its branches. The soil is generally a fertile, gravelly loam. There are 3 sulphur springs in town.
