    3. That is a wonderful site.  Have you searched for the last name using the wildcard symbol?  I would try that as well as the "sounds like" function using a Z or H as you mentioned.  That may yield some additional results.   --- On Sat, 2/18/12, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: [NYKINGS] Missing ? Author: robertgillisnj Surnames: Xiques Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.kings/16375/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am  researching the family of Julian Xiques and his wife Julia who lived in Brooklyn form about 1889 to 1936. When I  search for  Xiques births in Kings on the Italian Genealogy Group site  the only one I find is Evelyn born 2 Aug 1904 Kins Cert 17348. I do  find son William born 29 Jun 1902, Manhattan Cert 24799 and daughter Esperanza 2 Jan 1900 Manhattan Cert 1975 The Brooklyn Genealogy Information Page does not have an X in their surname list. Other  children are, from various Census: Julian jr Nov 1889 Frank May 1890 Arthur Oct 1891 - 1936 Frances/Francis/Francesca Nov1893 Julia X Sep 1894 Elizabeth Aug 1897 (possibly in Richmond but no birth record) My questions: Are there missing records? Does anyone have any knowledge/ideas on how the surname Xiques might be pronounced? Was the initial Z pronounced H as in Mexico, Mehico?
