I know this is a long shot, but have you had the opportunity to check NY State vital records outside the NYC/Nassau/Suffolk area? Or directory listings after 1934? I go to the NYS Archives/Library frequently and can check vital records and directories (if available-not sure what directory years they have) if this has not been done. (By the way, I now see your v3 tree, but only if I access it through your profile. I still can't get it to come up via the usual advanced search,family trees method which brings up v2 only.)
