    3. Kim, I found the following in Brooklyn Daily Eagle (October 10, 1889, page 5): "NOWLAN-On October 10, of apoplexy, JOHN NOWLAN, aged 47 years.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service from his late residence, 476 1/2 Fulton st, on Saturday, 12th at 2 P.M." http://eagle.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/Default/Skins/BEagle/Client.asp?Skin=BEagle  Also found a John Nolan buried in Greenwood Cemetery: NOLAN, JOHN burial date 1889-10-12, lot 26814, section 200. http://www.green-wood.com/burial_results/index.php?action=R&spage=2 Not uncommon for names in the BDE to be spelled "differently" than we are used to seeing.  Could be a match.
