She passed away in 2006. In order to obtain my grandfather's military records I need a copy of my mother's birth certificate. In doing a search it seems that that Ny will only give birth certificates to parents and the child itself. My grandparents and mother are deceased. I live in Massachusetts, am elderly myself and have no access to the city of ny except by mail. I'm assuming I'd need a certified copy not a genealogy copy. Is my situation hopeless?
