According to an article in today's (Tuesday, January 13) New York Times, "The Diocese of Brooklyn has proposed closing at least 14 elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens at the end of the school year and merging nine others." The article continues, "If the plan goes into effect, the diocese, which covers Brooklyn and Queens, will have closed 40 percent of its elementary schools since 2002."
