Just an FYI that the McCARTHY name has been discussed on the "Brooklyn" List in the past. My EX-mother-in-law was born Mary McCARTHY and was one of 2 daughters born to John McCARTHY. Their mother died young. I don't remember that I found further information on John. I think he died during the 1960's in NY.
