Due to diminishing advertising revenues, increased material costs, predatory competition and labor problems many newspapers either closed or merged with other papers, The New York Sun merged with the World-Telegram in 1950 forming the World, Telegram and Sun. In the middle seventies there was a larger merger in a final attempt to keed newspaper revenues alive, but it failed leaving only a few nespapaers in the field. To the best of my knowledge, the archives of the New York Sun were never digitized. If fact I cannot even say how completely they were microfilmed. The only chance that I can think of is to contact the Latter Day Saints and/or the main libraries in New York City to see if they have copies.
