I have baptismal cert for Mose from Holy Rosary in Jersey City that has a line for place of birth. Jersey City is typed there. Then by chance last week, I found a NYC birth index entry on ancestry.com for Tommaso. Same date of birth, only index says Brooklyn. I ordered Tommaso's birth cert the other day from NYC archives. The birth date for both is Oct. 3, 1893. Your theory is interesting. I guess we will have to wait and see.
