I have never seen a baptismal cert with a place of birth. Based on what you have written so far, I would not draw the conclusion that you have 2 separate births in two different states on the same day. What is more likely is what happened in the case of one of my uncles. His Protestant father was the informant for the birth cert and gave as the child's forename a family name that is fairly unusual. His Catholic mother, when presenting him for baptism, in order to satisfy what she thought was Church practice at the time (if not Canon Law), provided the child with 2 saints' names which is what went on the baptismal certificate. The result would be what you apparently see now. Two certificates with two different names, for supposedly 2 children born on the same day to the same parents. Except there was only one birth. Do you have definite proof that the second child was born in NJ, or just that he was baptized there? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
