She was elderly at the time, in her 80s, which would put the murder somewhere from 1959 to sometime in the 1960s. I am familiar with Manhattan but am not so experienced with Brooklyn research. I looked for info on the murder for a long time and found nothing. But I hadn't found the cousin's (Celia Gray) marriage so I wasn't sure of her name. Tonight I found her in the 1930 Census, on East 38th St. I know it's the correct record because her father is living with her. I need some suggestions on where to start to find out about the reported murder of Celia Gray. What newspapers? Can I get death certs for the 1960s? or is it too recent? thanks for any advice.
