I also searched old maps and old Brooklyn directories from the period but could not find a McQuaid street nor a mention that the street name had changed. I did find your Matthew Madigan, carman, listed in the 1878, 1879, 1880 directories for Brooklyn as living at 85 Luquer. Any chance that the transcriber of the original naturalization papers who transcribed the info to the card index mistook "Luquer" for "McQuaid" (given that the house number is the same)?
