I am not related to Mrs. Mazzara, nor do I have additional information. I am posting the obit for interested researchers. ***** Mrs. Agata Mazzara, 94, of Sunny Hills, departed this life on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Bay Medical Center after an extended illness.. Mrs. Mazzara was born in Brooklyn, NY to Peter and Pauline Catalano, and lived in Sunny Hills since 1975. She was a former seamstress, and was Roman Catholic by faith. Agata was the only girl in a family of 6 brothers, having lost one when he was born. her remaining 5 brothers were Stevie, Tony, Archie, Tutie and Santo. All 5 brothers were in early music and singing careers on stage in New York City. Agata was affectionately nicknamed "Ida" by her brothers and close family and friends. She was an excellent Italian cook, and enjoyed having parties with her family around the holidays so she could cook up great Italian dishes for all to enjoy. After moving to Sunny Hills in 1975 with her husband Rosario, she was a proud member of the Washington County Sheriff's Ladies' Auxiliary beside her husband who was a proud Auxiliary Sheriff's deputy fo! r 15 years. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Rosario Mazzara of Sunny Hills; her three children, Pauline Manzi and husband Joseph of Lewisburg, PA, Robert Mazzara of Levertown, NY and Raymond Mazzara of Lynn Haven; a former daughter-in-law, Colette Hazard of Lynn Haven; and her grandchildren, Heather Mazzara and Joanna Manzi.She also leaves many nieces and nephews, including Diane Catalano of West Hempstead, Long Island, Pauline Catalano of Tampa, FL, and Diane and Ilean Catalano of Sussex County, NY. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin McQuone officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sunny Hills. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 16, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM with Rosary services at 7:00 In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Mazzara's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
