The meeting will feature a lecture by Mr. Leo Cimini, President of the Sandminers Monument, Inc. Mr. Cimini will inform us about the labor done by early Italian immigrants who mined and transported sand and gravel from the Port Washington area to New York City. The fruits of their labor created 90% of the concrete used for construction in New York City. There is no admission charge for this lecture, and guests are welcome. The IGG meets the second Saturday of every month with free lectures and discussions of interest to genealogists and lovers of Italian culture and history. Visit our website, www.italiangen.org, to learn more about our group and consult our FREE databases of New York City birth, death and naturalization records.
