I will try the familysearch.org as you suggest. Did you find the marriage date from a source other than familysearch.org as I have been unable to locate it there? I am a little puzzled at the actual date. In the obituary the year, 1888 was given & somewhere else led me to believe it could have been 1889. Recently I found an article in the Canton NY St Lawrence Plain Dealer - Wed. Aug. 7, 1889. "Prof. H. Pettit, of Brooklyn, and his wife (formerly Miss Annie Stockton) passed through Canton last Saturday"......"The wedding took place on Friday in Brooklyn."...... Apr. 29, 1889 was a Mon.; Aug. 7 was a Wed. & if it was the Fri. before Aug. 7 the marriage would have been Aug. 2nd. I realize the paper could have incorrect data but since it was Aug. when they were reporting it & referring to what sounded like a recent day? I am so thankful now that marriages etc. give the full actual date, including the year of the event. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
