In most cases this information was published, though some volumes never saw publication as the project came to an abrupt end with the coming of WWII. Among those published, pertaining to New York City, were volumes containing information on the CIVIL records held within the repositories of New York City, the five boroughs and respective counties. What you are looking for, if those court records existed Circa-1940, should be listed within these volumes, which would also tell you where the records were located at that time. The New York Public Library has all the available volumes collectively known as "Historical Records Surveys." If you search their catalog for "Historical Records Survey" among the many returns you will find the specific volumes that pertain to CIVIL RECORDS. You might also try to limit the returns by adding search terms such as "civil records," "Kings County," "Brooklyn," etc. Here's the link to the NYPL catalog: http://catalog.nypl.org/search Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
