No, I have not thought of checking NYS vital records. My wife and I were Brooklyn kids in another lifetime but we live in NC now so most of my NY researching is over the internet. I would love it if you could take a look for me without going out of your way. I'm hoping to get more info on he and his wife when we can see the 1940 Census. His wife is actually the real mystery; she is supposedly part of our family but there has never been any record of her which is why I'm looking for their marriage cert so I can see who her parents were. It's so bizarre. It's like both of them came out of nowhere, popped up on the radar for awhile, then went into Witness Protection.
