BUT, according to Conn, he filed a will in NY in 1948. It should have been probated sometime from 1972 to 1975. I am interested in the contents of the will and would be happy to pay someone to transcribe or copy sizer1847@gmail.com He also married Helen Applebee in Kings County sometime after 1940. Would love to hear confirmation. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In most cases this information was published, though some volumes never saw publication as the project came to an abrupt end with the coming of WWII. Among those published, pertaining to New York City, were volumes containing information on the CIVIL records held within the repositories of New York City, the five boroughs and respective counties. What you are looking for, if those court records existed Circa-1940, should be listed within these volumes, which would also tell you where the records were located at that time. The New York Public Library has all the available volumes collectively known as "Historical Records Surveys." If you search their catalog for "Historical Records Survey" among the many returns you will find the specific volumes that pertain to CIVIL RECORDS. You might also try to limit the returns by adding search terms such as "civil records," "Kings County," "Brooklyn," etc. Here's the link to the NYPL catalog: http://catalog.nypl.org/search Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The entry from the source pertains to the court records that can be researched at "John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York Lloyd George Sealy Library." The Library might have your court records on microfilm, which means that this wouldn't be the primary repository of these records---but, maybe through the Library, you can hire a student to check out these microfilmed records, that is, if these are the records your looking for. I will keep searching looking for other possible matches. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. And I would hazard a guess that they also have the Brooklyn Court records. Personally, I have research some New York City (Manhattan) court records there, but I have also seen indexes to court records upstairs in another department. However, since you know the particular court, I would first search the web-site of the NYC Archives and see if they mention those particular records, and if not I would contact the archives directly---ask for Ken as he's the big cheese---the small man behind the desk is a @#&$%@# and is not particularly amiable to those asking questions. I am a bit confused as to where to go to retrieve the court minutes. Also, I have found the docket for the same case in Manhattan (prisoners were transferred to Brooklyn). It was at "Tombs" police court. I imagine there are some additional records (similar to normal court "minutes" or at least descriptions of the prisoners) associated with the docket I found. I know this would be Manhattan, but if any one knows where to retrieve those as well... The 2 cases are related, but the Brooklyn case should have the most detail and provide the most value in my research. Thank you very much. I am also more than willing to hire someone who understands the Brooklyn courts to retrieve the records related to these 2 dockets. I have the dockets digitally. Thanks. According to FamilySearch.org: ?The photoduplication department can only accept requests which have already been researched. Enough information must be included in the request so that photoduplication can go directly to the page or certificate being requested. ?If you are uncertain which page to order you may request copies of select pages from the index of a record. You can use this index to place a second order requesting the specific pages you need. It seems that you need to know the pages you want so that their volunteers simply copy and not "research." MAYBE providing the marriage certificate number, along with their film number, would be enough, but I'm not sure. It wouldn't hurt to try, since it's free! From what I can tell, it's taking at least a month to get an email back, since their workload has quadrupled! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
