I DID read thru all of Ward 9 in the 1855 census as I know my family were there from 1851 on thru numerous records, including the city directory. But somehow the census missed them tho his brother is there and they lived on the same block, sigh. Can't find my Thomas Graham and family anywhere in the 1855 census. I guess I can deduce that if a sibling (or both) were born in Philly, then perhaps Virginia/Vincenza was, too, in 1920. Still, though, the knowledge gap is still frustrating. Thank you! My dad has a cousin (Raphealla's daughter) living in Florida to whom I will write and ask: 1. Antonietta was her materal grandmother 2. Did she die in 1922 from Tuberculosis 3. Was Antonietta's daughter Raphealla born in Philly. Hopefully, my father's cousin will be willing to answer these questions if she knows the answers. My dad's family has a history of profound secrecy over anything concerning Virginia/Vincenza. Maybe taking this approach won't scare anyone off. This piece your provided is right on the money: Carmine: birth: 14 November 1892 death: March 1978 New York I don't think Virginia/Vincenza was born in New York. I think she was born in Pennsylvania, according to census records. Carmine's three children born around the time of the "young bride" Maria Natale's death: Raphealla - 1917 Joseph - 1918 Virgina/Vincenza - 1920 You have been so helpful in this process of eliminate and application. Some more thoughts while you and your dad wait for Raphealla's birth certificate, which may or may not confirm that Sabar was her mother's maiden name. In an earlier post I noted that "The Pennsylvania death indices has an Antonetta Natale dying 2nd April 1920 - Collingdale - state file number 47679" On further research I don't think that this is relevant to your family. The following records are much more likely to apply, 'if' the 1915 Connellsville Marriage License Application and the1920 US Census suggestions that I posted earlier, are not such long shots, after all! 'If' these are the right Carmine Natale, then Virginia/Vincenza was 'probably' born in Philadelphia rather than Connellsville. "The Pennsylvania death indices has an Antionette Natale dying 27 January 1922 - Philadelphia - state file number 2498" N340 Soundex code - 125/133 http://www.health.state.pa.us/indices/indices - death/1922 Death/D-22 M-N.pdf >From "Sons of Italy in America Pennsylvania Order, Records" Antonietta Natale - 27 - Philadelphia - wife of Carmine Natale died 27 January 1922 of Tuberculosis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Do check out rootsweb for the Fayette county posting site. I was checking For relatives in that area, (don't live anywhere even close to there) and found the Fayette Website group very, very helpful. I ordered records from the county office, and again- I thought there records were terrific. I did not have success with LDS records, rather the assistance, newspaper clippings, census, Etc. In my recent searching I've found that she may also be identified as Vincenza (or Vincentza), but no dice there either. This I do know: she had a brother Joseph, born 19 July 1918 and died in Feb 1945 fighting in WWII in Europe, _no_ birth record in LDS' Pennsylvania, Births and Christenings, 1709-1950 index. She also had a sister Raphaella, born 5 February 1917, _no_ birth record in the same LDS index. I will post in the Fayette County, Pennsylvania forum again this week with some updated information. My dad has placed a request for a copy of Raphaella's birth certificate to see if there is any tie to the individuals we found in a Fayette County, PA (Connellsville), marriage license citing Carmine Natale as the groom and a Ontonetta D. Sabar as the bride. Perhaps if I can be concrete about Ontonetta being the mother of these three children, it will help me. Thank you so much for all your assistance.
