You could call them @ (718) 821-1750 & if you give them the name and death date they have the info in the computer. They'll be able to tell you where in the cemetery they are buried (if they are there). Unfortunately many of the headstones from this time period are gone. Hope this helps. I am trying to locate old records from the Throop Avenue Presbyterian Church which was founded in 1862 in Brooklyn, New York. My grand aunt attended that Church for 40 years until her death in 1920. I contacted the Presbyterian Historical Society Presbyterian Church (USA) in Philadelphia, PA They indicated that in 1945, through a merger with the Rosedale Presbyterian Church in Rosedale, New York, it became known as the Throop Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rosedale, New York. In 1962, the name was changed to Throop Memorial Church Rosedale, located in Queens, New York. I then contacted the Presbytery of New York City. A woman named Melanie told me they do not have any records for that particular Church. She referred me to Throop Rosedale and to the Philadelphia Office. This woman said that all records were transferred to Philadelphia about 20 years ago. I wrote a letter to Throop Memorial Church, Rosedale and did not receive a response. I then e-mailed them a note and still no response. I then telephoned the Church and spoke to a very nice man who indicated that they did not have any old records and suggested I contact the New York Presbytery or the Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia. I guess I am right back where I started from. Is there anyone who has done any research on this Church? Any ideas where to go next? Many thanks, Joan R. In doing a genealogy search, I have found that two Lots at Green-Wood Cemetery belong to the Elders and Deacons of The Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of the City of New York. I Googled this organization and came up with an article from 1887. I am wondering if this organization is still in operation and how and where may I contact them. I am looking for information on a number of family members that were removed from New York City and reinterred in Green-Wood on January 28, 1869. Green-Wood does not have the original date of interment. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Marilyn

Westmeath, specifically around Castlepollard. I believe my g-g-g-grandparents were Thomas McCann and Catherine Lynch McCann. In any case they had several children, all baptized at St. Michael's RC church in Castlepollard. They had no son John that I know of, but their second youngest son was James (my g-g-grandfather). On my one trip to Co. Westmeath, I searched for other McCanns, but found hardly any. Even the church records from the late 1700s to early 1900s list only 4 John McCanns, and none of them are even close to a match for your John, born in 1828. However, I drove to the closest town in Co. Cavan and found many McCann tombstones in the churchyard. Do you have any idea of where in Westmeath John was born? Part of what intrigues me so much about that entry is Philip's name. Shonhale is certainly close enough to "Schoenhals" to be a misspelling of the name. And that same 1851 directory lists a Philip Schourhalss at the same Ewen Street address. Again, a spelling close enough to be my Schoenhals. My gr-gr-grandfather was Philip Schoenhals, b. 1825 in Germany. As limited as the info is for that census, it all fits with my family tree. Hence my desire to try to figure out who George Buss was...and when he died...because by 1854 Catherine Schoenhals (Buss?) was married to Joseph Nathan and had a child by him. I'm not certain who Eva was but she fits the parameters to be the woman who married into the family on a much more twisted branch. Is this right? I am looking for the death record/grave for a George Buss who ran a Hotel/Saloon in Williamsburg in 1850. He is on the Kings Co, Williamsburgh census for that year, and the 1851 directory gives his address as 149 Ewen St. The following year the proprietor of that address is my gr-gr-granduncle, Jacob Schoenhals/Schonhals/Schanhals. I think that my gr-gr-grandaunt, Catherine Schoenhals (later Nathan) was married briefly to George Buss. (The (albeit very limited) information on the 1850 relative to his wife fits her. BUT (and you knew this was coming!) I can't prove it. I have no further information on George other than the census and directory entries. My only hope of finding more about him hinges on finding his grave. Therefore, does anyone know which cemeteries might be the most likely prospect for a Williamsburgh resident besides the really big ones (Calvary, Greenwood, etc.)? George died ~1852. Many thanks for your help. Lynn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a copy of a marriage record for Robert Cox. The certificate number was obtained from the Italian site. Certificate # 4366 The site says the bride is Cora Hawes and the date is September 2, 1900. Certificate # 4366 The marriage record says that the bride is Ida K. Hawes and the date is September 1897. The stamp from the Department of health says July 20, 1900. Certificate # 4366 I can not find any marriage record at the Italian site for Ida K. Hawes. This is a bit of a puzzlement. Would someone have any idea about this situation? Thank you, Marilyn
