The address of this concern was 17 Battery Place, New York, NY. The building is a NY landmark known as the Whitehall Building, built in 1902. He married Helen Doll on July 17, 1875 in Brooklyn (cert. #1344) One of the witnesses is Arthur Foos, who I believe is a brother of his. I can not find any information on Arthur. Any information on him would be greatly appreciated. Adam married in 1875, I can not locate the 1880 census with his family information. He died sometime prior to 1900, I assume in Brooklyn. I have a grave site in Holy Cross with the McKenna clan - Olive Terrace Plot 14 where there are 18 persons interred - it has a very nice stone with only the family name and the Plot location. The only way I can see to get the info on interments is to pay the expensive fee for genealogy lookups to the cemetery. Is there another way? 3. Researching Genealogical Resources in Ireland Long-Distance In their only New York City area appearance, two internationally-acclaimed experts on genealogical research in Ireland—Dr. William Roulston, Research Director of Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast, and Dr. Brian Trainor, the Foundation’s retired Research Director and the former Director of the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland— will present an information-packed afternoon on researching genealogical resources in Ireland long-distance. The seminar is open to members of the New York Irish History Roundtable and the public. Drs. Roulston and Trainor will give four lectures that focus on genealogical resources in a variety of repositories in the thirty-two counties of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They will introduce us to many of the lesser-known resources. The afternoon will begin with a general introductory lecture, followed by specialized talks. The lectures are "Introduction to Irish and Scots-Irish Family History Research," "The Three Cs: Church Registers, Census Records and Civil Registration Records," "Gravestone Inscriptions," and "Not Always at the Bottom of the Pile." Time will be allotted for questions after each lecture. The seminar will take place on Sunday, September 28th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the McNally Amphitheatre of Fordham Law School at Lincoln Center, located at 140 W. 62nd Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues. Take the A, B, C, D, or 1 subway line to 59th Street-Columbus Circle. The price of admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. When I was growing up in Brooklyn, my best friend and neighbor was Katherine Kaleda. Her parents were Edward and Frances (not Elizabeth) Kaleda (not Slack). Kathy was born August 12, 1944. Her brother Eddie (also Edward, but always called Eddie) had been born exactly 4 years earlier, on August 12, 1940. Kathy and Eddie both married. Eddie's wife was named Anita, I think. Don't know about children. Kathy had a very brief marriage. The last time I saw her was at her wedding reception (1970 or thereabouts); I wrote to her several times after that, but never heard from her again. The marriage was brief, and she went back to living with her parents and using her maiden name. Her father Edward died in 1977. Kathy died in August 2001 and her mother, Frances, in 2002. Mrs. Kaleda's sister was Agnes Slack. I never met her husband, but his first name might have been Jake. It was a bad marriage, and intermittently she would arrive to stay at the Kaledas with her daughter Francie (might be Francine or Frances). Agnes died in 1992. Agnes's daughter also stayed with the Kaledas whenever Agnes was hospitalized for "her nerves," as we children were told. Francie was older than Eddie Kaleda--by 3-4 years. She married sometime in the early 60s. I think the guy's name was Tommy Walsh. They talked about moving to Texas, but don't know if they did or even if they stayed married.
