He has possible relatives of a 76 Dolores R. Veneziano, and a 52 year old John J. Veneziano. Was your dad a Junior, and was his middle initial B, and did he marry a Dolores? More information might help. Did Joseph have any brothers or sisters? If so, what were their names and where did they live? You say Joseph was born in 1929. That would make him 78 0r 79, not 83. Was Margaret Heng your mother, or Joseph's second wife? When and where did Margaret die and what was her last name then? If Margaret Heng was Joseph's second wife, her siblings may be alive and willing to help, if we could find them. What were her siblings' names? I have many records of Matthew Madigan at 85 Luqueer St., from the 1880s until his family sold the house in the 1930s. The occupation listed on the Naturalization index is right in line with what he did, and because the house number is the same, I did wonder whether it might have been referring to the same address at 85 Luqueer St - but how on earth does someone get "McQuaid" from "Luqueer"? I guess I'll have to get my hands on the actual records to be sure. Thanks again! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I also searched old maps and old Brooklyn directories from the period but could not find a McQuaid street nor a mention that the street name had changed. I did find your Matthew Madigan, carman, listed in the 1878, 1879, 1880 directories for Brooklyn as living at 85 Luquer. Any chance that the transcriber of the original naturalization papers who transcribed the info to the card index mistook "Luquer" for "McQuaid" (given that the house number is the same)? The large city ED finder transcribed all streets within all the EDs of large cities...including Brooklyn. McQuaid does not appear in the 1900 list of streets for Brooklyn. We also have a street name change utility which shows many sources, besides our own tables, for street name changes. It's at: http://www.stevemorse.org/census/changes/BrooklynChanges0.htm None of those links shows McQuaid. Are you sure of the spelling of the street name or it's location? I'll do some more looking.... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dee, I searched ancestry and only found Charetta married to Amaziah in the 1870 census living in Jamaica, Queens. He was a blacksmith as was 19 yr. old son Thomas. Charetta, spelled Charryetta in those records was keeping house. Living with them was Jane 14, Ellen 11, Louina 9 and James 7. I tried searching her on earlier records as well as Joseph but unfortunately the earlier records list only head of household by name and just tally off rest of family into age groups. Good Luck in your research, I guess we all head dead ends at one time or another. Don't give up. Arden LI, NY I am looking for the parents of Charetta White, b. 1825 in NY, married Amaziah Foster in 1840 in the Protestant Reformed Dutch Church in Kings County and died in Queens in 1893. Her parents might be Joseph and Ann, but there are several named that during that time period. Those I've found do not have a daughter Charetta, or any similar name. Thank you for any help you can give me. When a person dies, a library closes. I've come across a Naturalization index record that appears to be of my g-g-g-grandfather (Matthew Madigan), from 1876, that lists his address as 85 McQuaid St., Bklyn. I can't find McQuaid St. on any maps, and googling hasn't shown any results, either. Is there anywhere I can look for historical street names that may have changed? Try contacting the Brooklyn Courthouse (http://www.nycourts.gov/courts/2jd/kings.shtml) to see where their old records are kept? I don't think it's at the NY Municipal Archives, but you could try contacting them, if the County Courthouse doesn't work out.
