My father and your father inlaw are cousins. I was trying to find some of my great grandfaher (Nunzio) art work for my grandmother as a 90th birthday gift a few years ago, but I never got any further than what you found. What were you looking for? My grandmother has been very upset over the years that she has NOTHING of her fathers, not a photo, nothing, Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes it is easy to get mixed uo. This is what I have so far. I have traced John's family back to Nunzio and Rosaria (Sadie). I am trying to find out when Nunzio cane to America. The census says he came in 1906 and that he was 34 in 1920. I know he died on May 12, 1925. After he died his wife, Sadie (Rosario) and his (Nunzio's) sisters and brothers were fighting. She ended up having to put some of their children (Giacomo (Jack) who is my husband's grandfather, Giacomina and Benneddetto in a home for a few years. So this is the point where I am stuck. I cannot trace the family back any further than this :( Do you have any more info? PS and yes the census reported him to be a painter! My Great-Aunt Mary Francis Thompson Matthews (Lusk) had a daughter Bridget Matthews who married Nicholas Sweetman. Bridget was probably born in the 1870's. Maybe we can find some common ground. I married John Taddeo (son of John Taddeo who was son of Giacomo (Jack) taddeo who was the son of Nunzio Taddeo. I was hoping you have found more information on the family history. I can't find Nunzio's passenger record. There is one that says a Nunzio came over at age 38 in 1906 but that couldn't be him because according to the US Census, he was 34 in 1920... I am hoping to put all the pieces together for my Husband's 4oth Birthday in March! Please email me if you think you have more info. Maybe we can work together on this! Peggy, Have you tried the Naturalization indexes on the Italian Genealogical Group's web site to find James Bradley's petition number? I tried the Eastern District and found 6 people with that name. Maybe you can tell the right one by the date? Here is the web site in case you don't have it: http://www.italiangen.org/default.htm Vivian in South Carolina On Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 3:29 PM, gc-gateway@rootsweb.com < gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: peggypeggy40 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.kings/15596.1.1.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I think my grandfather told the census taker anything at the time. The Chappells I'm researching lived in NYC. Thomas and Sarah Chappell(both from England) had a son, John Chappell (born 1832 in NY) who married Esther Mitchell. They had a son, William H. Chappell (born 1855) who married Mary Ann Johnston. Their daughter, Sadie Chappell, is my grandmother. The Thomas Chappell you found could possibly be the one I'm researching. I'll definitely check it out.Thank you again,Cat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
