    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dmdavino Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.kings/15612/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To date, I have documented our 200 Tantillo family line from my great grandfather Matteo Tantillo in Misilmeri, Sicily. Of those who emmigrated to the US, there is still one branch of the remaining Tantillo lines that I still cannot find. The family would have lived, as most other Tantillo families did at the time, in the New York City metro area in the 1930s or so. My family knows that one of my grandfather's brothers also came to New York from Sicily. He and his wife and had three children (two of whom were named Rose and Lena) lived in the Bronx and then later relocated to Omaha. We believe they had a prominent business there for some time in the 1940s, but we are really not sure. We cannot seem to track anyone, but two different branches of our Tantillo line have oral history that leads one of the brothers of my grandfather, Francesco Tantillo, to Omaha. I am looking for anyone who knows anything about anyone with the last name of Tantillo who may have relocated to the ! Omaha metro area. If you are a Tantillo, or know one, or know of one, please reply to Dennis Davino at: ddavino@cypresscollege.edu Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. An 18 year old named John Jolly had been "tramping" around New Jersey looking for work, injured himself seriously while trying to hop a freight train, someone in New Jersey took care of him and gave him fare back to Brooklyn but his grandmother, Mrs. Neefeldt of 317 Bedford-avenue refused to receive him so he went to the police station for help, they removed him to St. Catherine's Hospital. Also found in NY Times, Oct 13, 1931, page 41 W. Neifeldt of Brooklyn bought 5 acres of farmland in Monticello, New York. I can e-mail these two items to you, if you haven't seen them already. It is free service. If you have the name of the cemetery, and the plot, section, you can request a photo of the tombstone be copied and emailed to you. Your uncle could be listed already. Try contacting Holy Cross and give them your uncle's name and date he died, they will give you the plot/section number. Then ask find a grave to take a picture and you might find a lot more information than you expected. Like I said, it is free. They ask if you want to make a contribution to get rid of some of the ads that are on the site. Check it out. It is really wonderful. All done by volunteers. Does anyone know what age was considered "minor child" in 1953? I have divorce papers fromFlorida for my grandparents and listed is a minor child that was left to my grandfather. I know he had one son, who was in the Korean War in 1953 and he would have been 20 yrs. old. I have reason to believe there may have been another child. Was 20 considered a "minor"? 1. [NYKINGS] "Minor Child" definition
    2. Betty
    3. Hi Elizabeth, I checked on-line and one site says that, depending on the State, or the Country, a "minor child" can either be "under 18," "under 20," or "under 21." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_(law) But, it could be described differently in a Court, I suppose, if a Judge makes a decision that a person Age 16, for example, could be considered a legal adult. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: ~1970 I know of a family in Brooklyn where the parents had been separated for a long time. And the single-mother died quite suddenly. She had 3 older children not living at home, and 3 teen-age children. There were 2 boys, 15 and 16, and a girl, 14. The "Court" / Judge decided that the 2 boys could remain living in their tenement apartment, but their younger sister could not live there with them. (No adult being present in the home.) For several reasons, the girl was going to become a Ward of the State at Age 14. No relative in NYC would take this "street kid" in, so a relative in MA decided to have her moved up here. The 2 boys in Brooklyn were supposed to finish high school, and their father was required to visit them every Saturday and pay the rent and check on them. (Fortunately, all 3 teens survived their teen-age years, and became adults without getting into too much trouble.)
