I am trying to find someone who is related to Babe Basedow who married Sidney Ryan. Babe died in 1940. I know Babe is a nickname and her first name may have been Henritta. She was a friend of my mother. I have a 8 x 10 picture of Babe in her wedding gown that I would like to see her family members have. Janet

This needs a lot of thought, considering a $90 fee. The Brooklyn Eagle did not mention "last will and testament" - only "to attend the judicial settlement of the account of Mary Nalon as administratix of the goods, chattels and credits of Thomas Nalon, deceased." Does this sound as if the deceased died intestate, or left a will? I really appreciate your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He had many brothers and sisters some of which immigrated at a later date, in 1922 and 1923. I have seen some ship manifests with John Winnie and James Winnie (nephews of my g-grandfather) that gave their destination as PA, but show up in the 1930 Census in Brooklyn, NY. They were all coal miners in Scotland. John and James parents were John Winnie and Bridget Cushley. They also had brothers William Jerry Winnie and Roderick Cushley Winnie. There was one sister Annie Winnie. So with that brief background, I'm looking for relatives of these Winnies from Scotland. All of them lived near Motherwell, Scotland. Some places are Newarthill, Mossend, Cambusnethan, Holytown and Cleland. Sometime around 1890 to 1900, many of my relatives changed their surname to Winnie from Guighan (or Gueghan). I'm trying to see if anyone that is related may have heard a story relating to the name change. I am aware that there are many Winnies in NY related to Pieter Winne but hope to try and find some that are not which may be my relatives. Hello. 3 yrs. ago I went to a Probate Court in MA and was able to read the "will" of an (unmarried adult) Miss Mary HUTCHINSON of Winchester, MA, from the 1930's. Some of the information and names in the will was a surprise, because my many years of research had never seen some of the names. Part of what the will says is that she left a small amount of money to her friends, and to her cousin, Mrs. George? SPAULDING. The rest of her money was to be "share and share alike" to her "second cousins," John B. HUTCHINSON, Mrs. Mabel SPICER, Mrs. Ruth LYNCH, and the sisters, Miss Edith RICE and Mrs. Louise (RICE) KIDDER. During the 1720's, my HUTCHINSON ancestor, bought the GARDNER Farm in what is now Winchester, MA. This farm existed in HUTCHINSON hands until after 1900. Actually, the very large farm had been divided in half, and there were 2 farms across a street from each other. In the early 1800's, one was owned by a HUTCHINSON son and the other was owned by a HUTCHINSTON married daughter. In the 1850's, John HUTCHINSON and 2 of his married sisters left Winchester and moved to Brooklyn, NY. I have only been able to find very brief information on these 3 couples from census information. In the 1930's "will," the names I have never seen before are: Mrs. George? SPAULDING (cousin), and Mrs. Mabel SPICER and Mrs. Ruth LYNCH (2nd cousins). Does anyone have any idea who these SPAULDING, SPICER, and LYNCH ladies are? (Louise and Edith are my gr-grandmother and her sister.) These ladies (alive in 1930's) would be associated with either the HUTCHINSON extended family in Winchester, or the nearby CROSBY extended family in the next town, Arlington. Oh, I forgot to mention that the 1937 "Deed" I looked at said the HUTCHINSON Farm was then owned by: John B. HUTCHINSON, Miss Edith RICE, Mrs. Ruth LYNCH of NY, and Mrs. Mabel SPICER of CT. They are the ones who granted the farm to Mrs. Louise (RICE) KIDDER, my great-grandmother. (My father moved to that farm in the 1940's, so I lived with "Grandma KIDDER" for 7 yrs. as a child.) It is my guess that Ruth and Mabel were "somehow" related to John HUTCHINSON and his 2 married sisters in Brooklyn, NY, from the 1850's. (Mrs. Elizabeth DODGE and Mrs. Adeline SYMMES) But, Mrs. George? SPAULDING could have been a cousin through the extended HUTCHINSON and CROSBY families in Winchester and Arlington, MA. The families were associated with many Winchester and Arlington families in the 1800's and early 1900's. Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) (More information on the 3 HUTCHINSON married siblings in Brooklyn, NY, from 1850 on .. is in the archives of the Brooklyn List.) (I would "love" to find descendants of these 3 couples ! Their HUTCHINSON siblings who remained in Winchester, MA, I cannot find descendants, either. And, the "male" HUTCHINSON line of those Winchester families has died off. So, I would like to know if John HUTCHINSON in Brooklyn, NY, has any male descendants. Also, I want to know if that family has the "Family BIBLE" or "family pictures." I would really like to see a picture of the HUTCHINSON Farmhouse in Winchester, MA, which existed in the 1750 to 1880 timeframe. This is the one which burned down in the 1880's. The farmhouse across the street (one of 2) still stands.)

The facility provided care for the poor and mentally ill. In 1891, the railroad changed the name of its station from St. Johnland to Kings Park because of the Brooklyn connection. In 1895, Dr. Oliver Dewing waged a successful campaign to have the Kings County Farm converted into a state hospital for the mentally ill.
