I found Dudleys mother, Rebecca living in Queens on Clinton Ave.in 1910. With her was a cousin, Horace Tilden(age 53)& a son Gilbert age 18. It shows she is 43, black, a widow, & had 4 children w/two living. Have yet to locate any of these people in 1900. NY City Directory 1890 William F. My father kept four photographs of himself with some unidentified relatives in Brooklyn in the early 1940s. He was temporarily staying with them before shipping to England (World War II). I've made an educated guess about the identity of the relatives, but have not yet been able to confirm. The relatives with whom my father stayed I believe lived at 1531 Gates Avenue (near where Myrtle crosses Gates) in Brooklyn. I have no idea what the street looks like now, but would anyone be able to view the photos and tell me whether the street in the background was in the vicinity of 1531 Gates? Jim
Let's see when was the last time I posted? November? December? There are a number of possibilities. Is there a reason you posted this in Kings County, e.g. you have a Kings Co. death cert? That would lead to different possibilities. A person's place of residence and death location can be very different. I would not rule out any location for residence based on place of death. I have an unclear connection to the Byrne name in NY. My father has told me about a Mary Byrne who was a cousin of some sort. She married someone name Keenan I believe. I have a manifest from 1912 where she was returning to the US (she was born in Ireland appr 1881). She was going to live with her brother Patrick Byrne who was living at 444 E 37th St NY NY. My father remembers going to visit relatives in NY as a young man but can not recall where. There was a set of twin sisters in the family. Thought I would reach out and see if it rang any bells.
