It was located at 27 Hull Street and most of my "Swenson" family had their services there in the 1920s, 30s. I checked the map and the building has since been replaced. I'm 99% sure all records are long, long gone - but it can't hurt to ask. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Found the following, maybe it will help you track him down in the 1870 US census or be useful in some other way. Manhattan City directories: 1867/68/69/70 no FURFEYs 1871 Furfey, William, matmkr, h.r. 147 Seventh av. 1872 Furfey, William, weaver, h. 454 W. 16th 1873 Furfey, Michael, matmkr, h.r. 230 W. 16th 1874 Furfey, William, weaver, h.r. 224 W. 16th 1875 Furfey, William, matmkr, h.r. 224 W. 16th Furfy, John, shoemkr, h. 422 E. 11th 1876 Furfey, William, h.r. 224 W. 16th 1877 not in it 1878 Furfey, William, matmkr, h. 441 W. 13th 1880 Furfey, William, mats 252 W. 22d, h.r. 243 W. 18th. Notes: - The directory labeled 1870 was "for the year ending May 1, 1870" and the directory labeled 1871 was "for the year ending May 1, 1871". - I found two people in the 1870 Manhattan directory who were living at 147 Seventh av. and both of them were on the same page in the 1870 US census for Manhattan but there was no FURFEY on the page with them. - He wasn't in the Brooklyn City directories for 1869 or 1870, either. It's been a good long while since I contacted them and at that time, things were changing as far as information being given out in genealogical research. I think they were wanting to establish some sort of payment system. Previously, the secretary, Beatrice, would do the research and send the information but she was told, as of my last contact with her, to give requests to the pastor for review. I have found my gg grandfather's other brother's family - Hugh Furfey. The William that I'm looking for is the brother to my gg grandfather. William b 1830/1 Ireland, wife Elizabeth b abt 1840 Nova Scotia - their son James b 1861 MA, daughter Fanny b 1866 NY, son Welford b 1874 NY, daughterCaroline B 1879 NY. So, at least that will give me his approx date of birth. Which will help to find his birth record. Have looked at the Brooklyn and NYC index records but nothing has jumped out. Having found names before that even started with the wrong letter anything at this point will help. The last name was Megarr but I've seen it spelled many different ways. Here is the link for World Cat http://www.worldcat.org/ Go to Advanced search in the upper left corner. Title of the book is "Bishop Loughlin's Dispensations, Diocese of Brooklyn 1859-1866". Author Joseph M Silinonte. Type in your zip code and it will you a list of libraries near you that have the book. It is out of print so a library is probably the only place you will find it. There is another book titled Bishop Loughlins..........but it not the one with the names, dates, etc. Can't believe you got to look at the book. How wonderful.
