Author: dcrowe7 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.kings/15051.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just came across this, thanks for the info! Eloise Tessier and John G Crowe are my grandparents and I was not having luck finding Edward Tessier's parents. My geneology book has his (Edward's) father as Hyacinthe David born in Canada and last name Turgeon for his mother (which is Augustine!). My book has them married on April 21, 1958. I have a little more information on the Laverty's if you need that and would love to hear any more information on the Tessier's and Turgeons if you have it. Thanks! 1. [NYKINGS] Charles Levine
    2. The Billy Rose Theatre Division has a clipping file on Charles Levine that contains just one small article located in the articles and databases in the databases under the subject heading "Film." Most of these are only accessible on site at the research libraries. Levine was an experimental film director in the 1970's. I would like to know more about him. Is it possible someone could scan this article or hand copy it and the newspaper it was in,plus date and e-mail it to me? Thank you. Sincerely, Carol Hicks

    1. [NYKINGS] Is there an index for probate and or the like for two modest people who died 1892/ and 1893?
    2. Dean Reinauer
    3. Hello, My ancestor, William CLEMOW, died in Brooklyn, 07 Oct 1892, death cert #16687 his wife, Emma died oct 10 1893 cert #17113, fhl roll 1323909. Both buried Cyprus Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn. I was wondering if there is an index at all for disposal of any property, or listing next of kin? I had perused the Brooklyn Eagle on line, and didn't see a notice of their passing at all. They did have two daughters, Gertrude and Mildred, and a son, but not sure of surviving issue, but was hoping for names anyway..... Writing from Florida, and just was hoping a more experienced person with Brooklyn and or NY records could let me know if there might be an index for those years, and possibly those name. Thanks

    1. [NYKINGS] LDS Film Numers
    2. The easiest way to find the LDS film number you need is to access the IGG databases through Steve Morse's link to them because he posts the necessary film number at the right instead of the Soundex code. Go to <www.stevemorse.org> and scroll down to NYC B/M/Ds. These records are from the IGG site WITH LDS film numbers added. Great time saver, thanks to Steve and his posse. Message Board Post: Dear Dee, thanks for the help navigating Family Search. I am familiar with Italiangen.org , but they only list the Certificate numbers and not the film numbers that correspond to what LDS has. Thank you again

Name Change - James McDonald aka William McAllister- a copy of a letter he wrote back in the 1930's Great Grandparents - Henry McAllister married Mary Ann Downs (1st) - GF's birth cert, Great Aunt death cert Maggie (Margaret) McDonald (2nd) - Census Henry has five children with Mary Ann - William (above), Sally (obit, cousin), Mary (obit, death cert, cousin), Margaret (obit, cousin), Charles (death cert), Thomas (death cert). All births took place between 1888 and 1894 in Brooklyn (census, obits, death certs).Mary Ann died in 1895, Charles and Thomas died as infants (death certs), William supposedly went to live with relatives (McDonald) according to a note he wrote for some kind of benefits or a name change back in 20's/30's. 1900 census shows Mary and Margaret in St. Francis of Assisi Orphanage in Brooklyn 1900 census shows Henry and Sally living with a Maggie McDonald (she is listed as married and head of household, but no husband listed). 1910 census shows all the children with an Aunt .....Katherine Southam...im assuming this is Mary Ann's sister Kate Downs 1920 census shows the girls with a Cousin....Samuel Simms...not sure where this fits, William was married in 1918. 1920 census shows Henry married to a Maggie, assuming McDonald...child listed James J. McDonald...matching info in 1900 census. They also had 2 children...Henry and Helen...born 1908 and 1911 Sally ended up marrying a Native American Chief in VA...died in 1977 (info from Aunt, cousin), Mary married a James J. McCormick....died in 1956 (am in contact with a McCormick cousin I met about 2 years ago) long story, Margaret died I think about 1958 (obit, cousin), William died about 1959 (Death cert). Henry died 1924 (death cert). Him and Maggie are buried together in Calvary. I have the burial info on all of them. William (GF) was baptized in St. Mary Star of the Sea. I do have pics on all the children also have a pic of Mary Ann, a pic of Henry with the children...assuming it was shortly after the funeral and a pic of a man and wife and on the back it has a signature which looks like C.B. McAllister, Mandan, ND. With that pic was a copy of the same pic stating "this was your Grandfather "Curly Bill". We are assuming this was addressed to Margaret since it was found in her things when she passed. Now for the tricky part, the pic is on a photography studio card with the address, matching the photographer and address..they were in business 1892 - 1894. To date have not located a marriage record for Henry and Mary Ann and any document providing info of Henry's parents. Was hoping they got married at Star of the Sea...no record found. So no real solid evidence yet, just assumption and elimination. Thanks, Bill Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The link to the request form is here: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/rg/images/FReqMicrofilm.pdf I've used this a number of times recently and it has worked perfectly! Good luck. Not everything is on line and we still have to order films. It seems as if this is going to be missing on their new website. Also, have you thought of using www.italiangen.org to find these numbers? They are not just Italian records but ALL NY City area records. A great help and a great site. The NY German site works the same way and I think they share some records but also have their own.
