M. Chase as the Attorney. In the 1900 census for California there is a Martin M. Chase living in Los Angeles and his occupation is U.S. Pension Attorney. This would be a fairly good indication that Merchant Flanders was in or near to Los Angeles in 1895 when he filed the application.
