It's possible that Adelbert was in the military at that time. At the time of the 1900 Census, many young men were in service related to the Spanish-American War and subsequent Philippine Uprising. The proximity of Madison Barracks in Sackets Harbor, where Regular US Army troops were based, suggests this possibility, although it doesn't explain the location of Adelbert's wife and family. I checked Heritage Quest which has a separate listing for Military, but didn't find him there. Another possibility is that he might have been in the Yukon searching for gold, as there was a gold rush at that time. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
