Hi I was born in Black River at 138 Maple Street. The town is in the Twp of Leray, This might be part of the confusion. On the edge of what was town in 1938-1945 there was a farm which was then owned by a Mr Moore. I do not know if there is a street called Maple Street Road in what was Leraysville. My father was born in Leraysville. All of it is now part of Fort Drum, but was called Pine Camp before WW II. I don't know if this helps or not. Both Black River and Evans Mills are still quiet little towns with some of the feel of that day still there. The numbering of the houses on Maple street were changed sometime after 1955 and the house I was born in is now numbered 160 Maple Street. This is only insight, but perhaps helpful.
