I did just find that this Daniel D. Butts is listed in the 1872 Triangle Business Directory. (Whitney Point was in the township of Triangle back then) He had a business called Butts & Gardner which said "house and sign painters, grainers & paper hangers". If you are interested, I took photos of the inside of the church which he did. It is "tromp l'oiel" wood trim. (graining?)
