Cole in Niagara Falls in 1853. He was living in Michigan before that and after the marriage returned to MI. I have not been able to find a record in Niagara. He was born in c. 1823 in NY; indirect evidence suggests that his father was William, a brother Silas, and that they came down from Jefferson to Michigan. There is a Mary A. Cole, also born in NY and of the right age, living in the area in 1850. Her parents are Daniel and Hannah Cole, it appears his brother Salmon and nephews Milo and Lafayette are living with them. Russell and Mary had a daughter Lucinda, born c.1854--two years after the county courthouse burned down. Records of any kind are a bit sparse. There has also been a suggestion that Russell married twice, both times to a Mary Cole, since there is a 10 year gap between their two children. There is another Mary Cole of the right age and also born in NY in the area in 1850, living with the family of Joseph Simpson.
