I see on the 1870 census that the family had an extra member, Lydia Waterman born about 1849. From looking at other censuses and from the order in which she is listed in 1870, she is not a daughter but a visiting relative. The ages are not quite right, but she could possibly be Lydia Waterman of Yates County, who in 1850 was living with her parents Thomas and Levenia and in 1860 was living with a Lewis family. I do see that in 1840 there was a William Waterman in Yates County. I did not look to compare family members ages with your Waterman family. Do you know what county Rachel is from?
