Hi, My name is Pam & I'm trying to find out more about my GGG grandparents, Edward & Persis Dolan. They lived in Sackets Harbor in Jefferson County. Sackets Harbor is part of the town of Hounsfield. Although I have copies of deeds for property they owned there in the 1850's, I can find no mention of them in the lists of early settlers in that area. I was there for a day this spring when I was visiting my aunts in Kingston, Ontario. I went to the genealogy room in the library in Watertown & also to the courthouse to find the deeds. My GG grandmother Elizabeth & her brother Edward were apparently born in Sackets Harbor. Edward DOLAN b. 1796, USA d. bef 1896 & Persis UNKNOWN b. abt 1800, USA d. bef 1900 | Edward DOLAN | b. 1834, Sackets Harbor, Hounsfield, Jefferson, NY, USA | d. bef 1934 | & Mary Ann EARL | b. 1838, Brockville, ON, Canada | d. bef 1938 | m. 22 Jun 1859 | Elizabeth DOLAN | b. 23 Feb 1835, Sackets Harbor, Hounsfield, Jefferson, NY, USA | d. 18 Dec 1920, Kingston, ON, Canada | & John BENNETT | b. 21 Aug 1834, Dundas, ON, Canada | d. 1890 | m. 5 Oct 1855 I know that the family moved to Belleville in Ontario & may possibly have moved back & forth between those places. In the 1871 census of Ontario, both Edwards were in Belleville & both were said to have been born in the USA. I have recently found that there are two US censuses which list an Edward Dolan & wonder if there is anyone who could find the information out for me.
