Today in Sackets Harbor there is a tiny street called "Barn Alley" which connects Bayard St. to General Smith Drive between West Washington St. & West Main St. It was a dirt road when I was a kid and was paved in the past few years. A map of Sackets just after the War of 1812 shows that a "Public Barn" stood near where the road is now and I wonder if that's how the street got its name. . . . . Does anyone know when the barn was torn down? Who owned it? What it was used for (besides the obvious)? Thanks, Mark Wentling
