I am new to the list and thought that I would post my interests. My gggrandfather, Giles Ransom, was born in Truxton, Cortland, NY in 1812. He went to Sackett's Harbor in 1828 at age of 16 to learn the cabinet making trade from Daniel Harlow. He later married Cynthia Harlow (not positive that she was Daniel's daughter). They moved to Giles' farm at Giddingsville and lived there until 1865 when they moved to Iowa.
