I am having problems with my great grandfather William Henry Hill who was born in 1840 in Jefferson Co. His parents were Amos Hill & Ursula Wheeler. Their family lived in Jefferson Co. since Revolutionary times until 1858. I thought I found a lead with the 1830 & 1840 census, but didn't realize they only list the head of household and tally up the males and females in the house, so it was too vague to know if this was the correct Amos. Does anyone have any advice where I can look for more help? I am stationed in Germany and exhausted all the free lookup volunteers who couldn't turn up much more than the census indexes.
