Correction for you all: It is BROWNVILLE, NY - leave out the -s- It is a small town out of Watertown West on Route 12E. Years ago there used to be paper mills there. Also, another one I have seen incorrect - it is HOUNSFIELD - it may have been spelled differently in the 1800s. Hounsfield is a small hamlet going west out of Watertown on Route 3 on the way to Sackets Harbor where a large battle was fought during the War of 1812. If any of you ever get up this way, Sackets Harbor is a place worth spending time and money to see. It has been restored since I graduated from high school there in 1942. Also Madison Barracks has been restored. There is still more to be done there. A fantastic restaurant there "Madison Barracks Inn", including outdoor eating and boat dockage. Perhaps this will help you find what you are looking for easier.
