    1. [NYJEFFER-L] Netiquette, for a proper emailer
    2. Charles Herbert Crookston
    3. The following is a good summary of netiquette. Shamelessly lifted from another list, as it is applicable to this one also. And probably, to all: ============================================================ Ten Important Rules of E-mail: - - Include a clear and specific subject line. - - Edit any quoted text down to the minimum you need. - - Read your own message thrice before you send it. - - Ponder how the recipient might react to the message. - - Check your spelling and your grammar. - - No curses, flames, spam, or USE ALL CAPS - - Never forward any chain letter. - - Use e-mail for any illegal or unethical purpose. - - Not all email programs can handle HTML, so send your email in plain text - - When in doubt, save your message overnight and reread it in the light of the dawn. And one could add an 11th, 12th, and 13th: - - Use "greater than" or carats ( > ) to set off lines of quoted text. - - Uses ellipsis ( . . . ) to denote omitted text. - - Never, ever, rely on the privacy of e-mail, especially from work. A "Golden Rule" of e-mail: - - That which you find hateful to receive, send not unto others. ====================================================
