Hello, Recently I received information about the 1850 Census for Orleans, Jefferson Co., NY regarding a Truman (or Freeman) Wilson who is a farmer age 44 years. He is married to Mirinda age 43 years. Their children are Jane age 16 Silas age 14 Clark age 11 Henry age 9 Lodema age 6 Sarah age 4 P.H. (male) age 2 The ages of Jane and Henry match those of my gr gr grandfather Henry C. Wilson and his sister Jane Wilson Carter. Henry was born in Jefferson Co., NY in Sept. of 1840 according to the Wisconsin Civil War Pension Papers. Also in Rodman, Jefferson County is a Caroline Wilson who is working in a hotel and she is 23 years old. This matches the age of Henry's sister Caroline Wilson Shaw. I have looked at various census indexes for the years 1820, 1830, 1840 for a Freeman or Truman Wilson and this is what I find: 1840 Truman Wilson in Rutland There are Freeman Wilsons in other counties in New York in 1820 and in 1840. Does anyone know of or have a connection to this Truman Wilson family? or know if the name should be Freeman rather than Truman? My gr gr grandfather, Henry, had a son named Freeman who died when he was about 8 years old. My gr grandfather, Abram Wilson had a daughter named Lodema. Sometimes names are repeated like this but not necessarily. If anyone can help with information about this family, I would be very grateful and willing to share information about my Wilson line.
