JOINER is filling up his store with fine spring and summer goods. ---Rev. D.L.FISHER will preach a sermon to the sailors next Sunday at 11 o'clock at the Universalist church. ---We notice that C.H.SPRAGUE is putting in a stock of furniture in his upper rooms in connection with his store. ---Miss Flora SAWYER is now and has been for several days ill. We all hope she may speedily recover health again. ---Oscar E. LEE has five sheep which has given birth to thirteen lambs this seasonand all is well and healthy. Who can report more prolific sheep than these? Jefferson County Journal Oct. 1, 1879 ---Mrs. F.E. MUNGOR is visting her parents in Brookfield, N.Y. ---Henry NELSON, of Rome, N.Y. is in town on a visit. ---Dr. F. AUSTIN has departed from Lacona to locate in Chicago. ---Drunk and disorderlywas the charge brought against Nick McCAFFREY. Ten days in the P.J. was his sentence. ---Election of trustees of Union school district No.9 will take place in the basement of the high school building, Wednesday, Oct. 8. ---Flying feet will chase away the hours at a private hop given by W.H.HOLT, of Central Hotel, formerly Union Centre House, Locona. ---The J.W. PORTER factory have sold their August and September cheese at 10c per lb., and contracted the remainder of the season at the same price. ---Mr. E. BRITNAL, a drover from Portland, Pa., died at the residence of Wm. McCONNELL last Sunday morning. He was engaged in buying cattle, and being taken sick on the road, came to Mr. McCONNELL's, an acquaintance, with whom he found a home until his death. ---M.E. Sunday School have elected new officers as follows: Supt., G.W. HOLLIS; Ass't N.L.NYE; Lady As't, Mrs. W.A. HARDING; Sec'y, Spencer KNOLLIN; Treas., E.F. NYE; choirister, E.A. ROBBINS; librarian, Jno. H. WHEELER. ---Mr. F.E. MUNGOR, of the News, has associated with him as equal partner, Mr. Fred LUM, a young man of excellent habits, pleasing address and good business capacity, who has been an employee of the office something over a year. Success to MUNGOR & LUM. ---Mr. Leonard WART has received a letter from "Keru" MARTIN, an inmate of the O.P. and a former character of this place, in which he commends his good sense in discarding bezine and strychnine, and taking up solid temperance, which, unlike any other hand, the better you hold it the better it grows. Jefferson County Journal Oct. 1, 1879 Adams Centre ---Mr. Walter FULLER is very low with consumption; probably will not recover. ---Our school is progressing finely under the watchful eye of Mr. C.K. BURDICK as principal. ---Our enterprising townsman, Mr. J.A.D. SNELL, carried away quite a number of the prizes at the county fair. ---We are glad to learn that Geo. L.
