Sharon, You can search the contents of the 1850 census of Jefferson County free from your own computer at http://www.genexchange.com/ny/jefferson/ Click on "1850 federal census" I've noticed a couple of my ancestors missing, but for the most part it is complete. People are searchable by name only rather than household so you have to sort through all people with teh same last name and match up families according to household and family numbers, but it is a Jefferson County genealogists dream come true!! Good luck! Mark A.
