    3. Shirley, Sorru but I am a terrible speller. The church(?) you are refering too in Kirtland is probably the Kirtland temple, originally constructed by the Mormons, but no longer owned by them ( maybe partially own by them and the Reorganized LDS church, I'm not sure) but no longer used as a temple by the Mormon Church. As for the other question; the Mormons who came West in 1847 were members of the original church who recognized Brigham Young as the next president of the church following the death of Joseph Smith. There were other members who felt that the next president should be the son of Joseph Smith and they are called the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are headquartered in Independence Missouri. Lisa Ecker sy mistake even for some of us who live in Ohio. One might be > interested in touring their church (is it called a church?) in this town. > It was quite fascinating.
