    1. Look-up PLEASE: Asa MANLEY

    3. Hi folks, I was wondering if there is a kind soul out there who would be generous enough to look up two things for me at the Jefferson County courthouse, please, regarding my ancestor Asa MANLEY. 1. -- Asa settled in the town of Hounsfield between 1810 and 1820. He left Hounsfield for Ohio between 1830 and 1832. I've never figured out where his property was (though I think it was at the south end of the town) and I would very much appreciate it if someone could look at the land records and see if they can find when, where, and from whom he first purchased his land (finding out who he sold it to when he left would be a bonus!). I'm especially interested to see if there are any sales to WASHBURNs. 2 -- Secondly, Asa was in the War of 1812, serving in Bellinger's Regiment and Capt. Camp's Company (Elisha Camp?). I'm wondering if he served at Sackets Harbor, so would like to know if there are any service papers on file for him there in Jefferson County. I know that he was living in Herkimer County when he enlisted. Any help with either of these requests would be sincerely appreciated. I'd do it myself but I live a 10 hour drive away. If you are interested, you can learn about the Manley family (and associated SUMNER family of Adams) on my website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/welcome.html THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Sincerely, Mark A. Wentling Washington, D.C.
