I cannot find the parents of Cyrus Lewis Forbes. According to family records, he was born in Clayton, Jefferson Co., NY on 5 November 1822. >From the Jefferson Co. Website, I learned that he married Sarah Sheever (Cheever) in Depauville on 4 July 1847. (The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Byron Alden.) She died on 23 Feb. 1851. I know of no children from this marriage. I have the marriage certificate from his marriage to Miss Laura A. Sturtevant on 25 December 1852 in Depauville. The ceremony was performed by Moses Lyon. Laura and Cyrus Forbes were my g g grandparents. They later moved to Paterson, NJ. I have found him in Clayton, Jefferson Co in the 1860 census with his wife, Laura and his children, Sarah, Celia, and Cynthia. They were in Monroe Co., NY in 1870 and in Passaic Co., NJ in 1880 and 1900. The Report of Death from NJ state records has lines drawn through Mother's name and Father's name (and said he had always lived in NJ, which I know is not true). Can anyone help me find his parents?? or give me any suggestions? Are there church records that would have this information? What church would it be? The marriage certificate has only their names, DePauville, the date and the signature of Moses Lyon. Would a NY State census have the information? Thanks for any help. Barbara Hanson [email protected]
